Winslow 10k - 22 February

10K 2026 Start

The signs and equipment have been put away from this years ride. It proved another great opportunity to add funds to our Charity Account for local and national charities.

Thanks to all who helped on the day (and before).

43rd Charter Dinner - 7th March

The Charter Dinner is the time when we formally celebrate our Lionistic Year, and allows us to drag our DJ's out of the wardrobe and put on our 'posh frocks'.

As ever we enjoyed the company of fellow Lions, partners and guests at our 43rd Charter Dinner.

Returning to the Buckingham Bowls Club the courses flowed and the drink and speeches as well.

Lion President and Callum Anderson

Lion President Daniel Bradford and guest Laura together with Vron Corben BEM and our guest speaker Callum Anderson MP

Callum Anderson Lion President Daniel

This year we were honoured to have Callum Anderson MP as our guest speaker and he was able to give us his first impressions of being our new Member of Parliament. Very 'revealling' of the workings of the inside of government from the eyes of a new MP.

Winslow Big Society Community Cinema - 20th March

The Lions and ‘Lion Friends’ helped to set up this month’s film show in the Bowls Club.

A great turn out ensured a full house and everyone seemed to enjoy another great film. (Shall We Dance with Richard Gere).

Before the film we took advantage of the occasion to recognise the hard work that key individuals within the Winslow Big Society Group have given to the Winslow Community.

We were honoured to present a 'Melvin Jones Fellowship Award' to Sue Keane and Vron Corben BEM.The 'Melvin Jones Fellowship Award' is the highest form of recognition from Lions Clubs International Foundation, honoring individuals for dedicated humanitarian service.

Winslow Beer Festival - 20th & 21st March

Jackie Tame

This was the 20th Anniversary of this major fund-raising activity. Our first Festival was held in March 2006 after the idea was presented to the Club by past member Lion JimmyTame. To honour his inspiration and assistance in running early Festivals we took the opportunity of presenting to his widow, Jackie, a framed print of a copy of a news cutting and the cover of the first Beer Festival Programme.

The Festival was well supported by the town and will allow us to fill our charity account even further this year!

A big thank you to all our sponsors that allow us to hold this event every year without the risk of exposing the Club to financial losses while ordering beers and glasses.
