Winslow Big Society Community Cinema - 12 February
The Lions and ‘Lion Friends’ helped to set up this month’s film show in the Bowls Club. A great turn out by everyone ensured a full house and enjoyed another great film. (The Ballad of Wallis Island).
HS2 Site Visit - 18 February
A group of Lions and partners visited the HS2 Site near Calvert on the 18th February. EKFB the joint venture contractor responsible for 80 kilometres of the entire route were our hosts on the morning visit. Bedecked in suitable personal protection equipment, PPE (they saw us coming!) we were driven to key components of the project... Over bridges, ‘Green’ bridges and even a ‘Bat Tunnel’ (no sign of Batman or indeed ‘Robin’).
A very interesting (certainly eye opening and jaw dropping) tour of what will (eventually) be an imposing engineering feat.
After the visit we were suitably refreshed at the Crown in Gawcott.
Lion Bob Pomroy RIP - 20th February
Sadly, in January we lost a long serving member of our Club Bob Pomroy. We were proud to be able to celebrate his life with his family at an event at the Villiers Hotel in Buckingham.
Bob was a long serving member of our Club and previously served with the former ‘mother’ club, Buckingham. Bob will be remembered for all his service to the community but in particular for his work with the local ‘Young Carers’ organisation.
Thank you Bob for your Service, you will be missed.
Winslow 10k - 22 February
Over 200 runners will be competing in this year’s run. Our thanks go to all helpers including ‘Friends of Lions’, our local Scouts (manning the water stations) and staff from our hosts for the Race HQ - Furze Down School.
Most importantly thanks to our time keepers for providing the results that will be available on our website.
This year we will have images of the race with assistance from our volunteer photographers, Sue, Dave and Walter.
Check out our website for a great record of the Run.
