Beer Festival postponed....

We have had to make a very difficult decision to postpone the event planned for the 13th and 14th March 2020. Here is the statement that we made at that time..

"In lieu of the health concerns at that time regarding the coronavirus, we took the decision on the grounds that :

It would be morally wrong to hold an event for 500 plus people to attend without really being absolutely certain that we could minimise or eliminate cross contagion, 

Although there would be some costs to the Club, if we were to wait another week the exposure to our funds would double,

Trying to gauge what will happen over the coming weeks is difficult but the trend seems one way currently. Even if we waited for a government directive on meetings, the public is going to make up its own mind on whether they want to attend or not an event which is fun but not essential.

In reaching our recommendation, we have tried to take on board advice from health professionals and our conclusion is that  the responsible way forward would be to postpone the event until later in the year.

This will be the fifteenth Beer Festival that the Lions Club of Winslow has organised and we are proud to say that to date the Festivals have raised over £120,000, all of which has been used to fund many projects for the benefit of the communities in Winslow, the surrounding area and beyond.  This has been possible due to the support we get for the event from the people who come along year after year to enjoy the great beers on offer, but the Festival’s success is underpinned by the help and generosity received from our Sponsors.
