Winslow’s Third Beer Festival –
Third time lucky!

The Lions Club of Winslow held their third beer
festival, Friday 14th and Saturday 15th March and
‘It was the best ever!’
The Friday Evening was a full house and was the usual
atmosphere of good humoured drinkers appreciating the fine beers
available.
The Saturday Matinee session worked out to be a great
success too, with the showing of the last of the three matches in
the Six Nations Rugby and people of Buckingham would have heard the
cheers for England from their!
Over 40 beers were enjoyed and most of the barrels
were dry by the end of the Festival on the Saturday Evening.
It is hoped that the event will have raised well over
£ 9,000 when all the pledged sponsorship monies are collected.
The Lions wish to thank all the Sponsors of the event
without whom the fund-raising would not be as successful of course.
In particular the Prime Sponsor – Bright Nails Ltd. for their
continued support as the Prime Sponsor for all the Festivals so far!
As the main focus for our fund raising activities
this year is ‘Local Youth’ the present organisations have been
identified as being recipients of funds from this event and the
earlier 10K Run.
Furzedown School,Winslow Play Group,
Padbury Youth Club, Treehouse Pre-School, Winslow Scouts and cubs,
additional national and International charities also list Walk for
Life in June for Cancer Research UK. Florence Nightingale Hospice,
Air Ambulance, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf., Prostate Cancer Research
and Lions ‘Street Children’.Appeal.
The raffle run for the Florence Nightingale
Hospice specifically raised over £ 500.
The successful bidder for the Silent Auction for the
Fountains Leisure Club Membership
was Wayne Gibbard of Buckingham.
The Lions would like to thank all that supported them
and look forward to seeing you all again next year.
