November 2008 -
Firework and Bonfire Display
During a weekend
of wet weather we were extremely lucky with the weather and were
able to complete the display before the heavens opened!
Even so it was our best attended display ever and we were able to
raise over £ 3000 for local and national charities.
Thank you
Winslow for your support and we look forward to seeing you again
next year! |

March 2008 -

the best ever and raised well over £9000! Thanks to all the Sponsors
for their continued support and in particular Bright Nails Ltd. for
being our Prime Sponsor for the third year running. We hope to see
you all next year! See more details |

December 2007
- Carols in the Square
We were joined
by the folk of Winslow and we joined in with the carols with the
accompaniment of the St. Laurence Church Choir and the Giocoso
Concert Band. Not only was this enjoyable for us all but Father
Christmas also surprised us with a visit! Your generosity also
allowed us to collect around £ 200 to boost our Christmas Parcels
for some of the residence of Winslow and the environs. |

November 2007 - Bonfire and Fireworks Night
On
a fine autumnal evening, 3rd November, we held our annual bonfire and
fireworks display. We would like to thank all who attended and gave us
such positive feedback - "Best yet!”, “Excellent!”, “Give yourselves a pat on the back.” “You
mean you don’t pay professional pyrotechnicians
to run it!?”
“We’ll be back”. See you next year!! |

June 2007 – Alvin is Elvis!
June was the month Elvis came to Winslow (well Alvin actually!)
A splendid night of Elvis hits sung with all the style and brilliance
of Elvis himself. Not only was it great entertainment but we were able to
raise over £2000 for local and national charities.
Thanks for everyone’s support, we are
sure that we have not seen the last of Elvis in Winslow! |

May 2007 – Kayak
Challenge
Lion Magnus Morgan set himself a challenge…to paddle his kayak in
the open ocean around Scottish Coast near to the Isle of Skye
during a midge ridden May. A total of 75 miles!
Well he did it! And not only that raised
over £3,500 that was donated to Macmillan Cancer Care, The Alzheimer’s
Society, Puzzletree
Pre-School. We
understand this may even be a repeated event – well done Magnus! |

March 2007 –
Second Winslow Beer Festival Visit the Photo Album
We held our second Winslow Beer Festival after the success of the
first one in 2006. By increasing the number of sessions by adding a Saturday
afternoon one we increased our takings to over £6,000. Thanks to all our
sponsors and for the Rt. Hon. Iain Duncan Smith MP for pulling a pint or two!
We featured over 40 beers, lagers and ciders from over 20
breweries from around Great
Britain. Keep an eye out for next year’s
dates |

December 2006
- Carols in the Square
This has become a regular event for the Lions. Every year we are
joined by the St. Laurence Choir the Winslow Concert Orchestra and the towns folk of Winslow, for traditional Christmas Carols in
the beautiful surroundings of the Winslow
Market Square dressed with decorative lights and
the all important Christmas Tree. Somehow Santa always finds out where we are and visits during his
busy schedule to say hello to all the children! Maybe it’s the Mulled
(non-alcoholic) Wine that attracts him. |

June 2007 Visit the Photo Album
Party for the ‘Seniors’ of Winslow. It was great to see the
‘senior’ towns-folk enjoying tea and entertainment at our Annual Tea
Party.
We look forward to entertaining you all again next year. |

March 2006 – First
Winslow Beer Festival Visit the Photo Album
We held our First Winslow Beer Festival with the support of our
local CAMRA friends. The event was opened by local MP John Bercow and proved a great success and allowed us to raise
in excess of £4,500 for the North Bucks Air Ambulance, Willen
and Florence Nightingale Hospices.
With beer and lagers from over 30 breweries it certainly set the
scene for future festivals. |
