A well organised race and some of the most helpful marshals I have ever encountered.   Thank you and well done! from S. B.

Many thanks for organising and running a fantastic 10k yesterday. It was the first 10k I have done in a number of years and I was impressed by the quality of the route and organisation. You all deserve great credit for making running 10k seem like a good thing to do on a Sunday morning! I will certainly be back in future years. T.T.

Just a brief note to provide feedback on Sunday's race.
This was my first ever race - a little late at the age of 54, but hey who cares?
I must compliment you on a really well organised event.

  • Pre-event organisation excellent. Good to have a bagging area.
  • There were plenty of marshals - who were also great at providing necessary encouragement
  • Good to have the water stations - sorry about the cups!
  • Nice quality T-shirt (although I've lost mine somewhere between the school and the car)
  • Really impressed by the speed with which the 'photos and results appeared.
  • Good course - I think that 'undulating' is a good description. I wouldn't call it hilly, but the last drag up into the village can be a killer!
  • I'm pleased with my time. However, my only criticism is that my name is spelled incorrectly on the results pdf. I am not, and never have been, LIDSAY!
Well done Winslow Lions. I'll be back next year. (L.M.)

I was given a flyer after the race on Sunday asking for feedback.

I have now run both races and the positives outweigh the negatives by a long way.

You have an excellent, friendly race over a good, challenging course.

There were from my perspective only 2 things I saw that I would suggest you change –

1)       The circuit of the field at the start is asking for trouble. With everyone bunched up on slippery grass with loads of molehills you will eventually have someone twist an ankle or worse and although I am not fast enough to bother some grumbled that having to “fight” their way through the field cost them time. To rectify this is simple; just have the circuit at the end of the race when we are all spread out. I would also ask people to stand at the start in an area based on where they expect to finish. A few simple signs with predicted finishing times is all that is needed.

2)       It did not affect me but after I had finished and changed and was walking back to my car the people around the 1 hour mark were finishing. As they turned the corner at the top of the hill for the final section along the road they met oncoming traffic on an already narrow section and had to dodge the cars. I know it is not always possible to completely stop the traffic but this would have been fairly off putting and conducive to them wanting to come back again.

As I said a thoroughly enjoyable race and if possible I will be back for the 3rd running next year. (S.B.)
